What is faith?

“Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.”

Hebrews 11:1 (NLT)

Do not love this world

“Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.

1 John 2:15-17

The love of money

“But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.”

1 Timothy 6:9-10

Patience

“Be patient in troubles, and keep on praying.”

Romans 12:12

The power of prayer

“Are any of you suffering hardships? You should pray. Are any of you unhappy? You should sing praises. Are any of you sick? You should call the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you committed any sins, you will be forgiven. Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. ¬†The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.”

James 5:13-16

Let us not underestimate the power of prayer.

The new life

My quote for today comes from the book “Humility” written by Andrew Murray:

“The life God bestows is imparted not once for all, but each moment continuously, by the unceasing operation¬†of His mighty power.”

Wow!

Do good!

“Don’t be misled – you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.

So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone – especially to those in the family of faith.”

Galatians 6:7-10
